John Wayne - aka “JW” or "J-dub”
Sorrel gelding, approximately 20 yrs old
Grade Quarter horse
He would be a wonderful horse for a walk/trot lesson program (light lessons), as a trail horse, or “husband” horse.
He will move out - he walks with a fast walk and doesn’t need to be pushed. He has a ton of energy - can lead or follow on a trail.
Very sensitive to leg pressure. Good for a beginner riders although he will move out if asked. He is not a dull lesson horse.
He will make you “work for it” to mount from the mounting block (lol) if someone isn’t there to hold him. But he’s not a jerk about it, more like he’s “ready to go.”
While grooming he may move side-to-side a little, he stands quietly while being tacked up.
He is very sweet and gentle, he is the first one to greet you at the pasture gate and seems to like being kissed on his nose. All the horses in his pasture love him - he’s middle of the herd.
He will stand for the farrier, and a bath (doesn’t like his face sprayed).
Easy to load and haul.
Currently is in a pasture with 6 or 7 mares - they LOVE him, and he adores them.
Up to date on Coggins and shots.
